There are many concerns and controversies over entrusting the Ministry of Justice’s personnel verification for public officials.
President Yoon Seok-yeol openly defended the Ministry of Justice’s personnel verification, saying, “The office of the president should not be swindling, and the United States does the same.”
We analyzed whether that was the case.

President Yoon Seok-yeol on his way to work this morning.
When reporters mentioned the controversy over the ‘personal information management team of the Ministry of Justice’, President Yoon raised his voice and poured out his words with both hands.

“The president’s office should focus on policies and stuff like this, is there any kind of slander or information gathering regarding someone? It’s right not to do that.
The presidential office emphasized that the United States is doing the same, saying that it has passed the personnel verification to the Ministry of Justice because it is not possible to collect information directly.

They don’t do that to collect information regarding public officials’ misconduct, and the assessment agency just takes care of the situation.
The president himself went out to explain, but doubts persist.
This is because, under the current law, the Ministry of Personnel Innovation, which has the authority to discover public officials and collect information, was left as it is, and the personnel verification function was handed over to the Ministry of Justice, led by Minister Han Dong-hoon, a close associate.
Criticism continues unabated that the president is trying to dominate the public service society by conducting personnel and investigations at the same time through the Justice Prosecutor’s Office.

“The chief civil affairs office was formally divided between the prosecution and the prosecution, but now who would believe if the Ministry of Justice said that there was a division between the prosecution and the prosecution? A triune system of direct control connecting the president, the Ministry of Justice, and the prosecution will be completed…”
If you look at the American style, it doesn’t quite fit us.
In the United States, the Office of Legal Counsel of the White House oversees public officials verification, and the FBI, an independent organization under the Department of Justice, collects primary information, which is cross-verified with the Internal Revenue Service, the Public Service Ethics Committee, and the Audit Office and sent to the White House.
However, if the human resources information management team of the Ministry of Justice of the Korean government is promoted as it is, people will be dispatched from the police, the National Intelligence Service, and the Ministry of National Defense to operate it, creating a structure that monopolizes the collected information.
On the other hand, the Democratic Party criticized President Yoon’s remarks as being very concerned, saying, “It means that the role of the Ministry of Justice’s personnel information management team is to cheat or seek information.”
At the same time, he even mentioned a proposal for the dismissal of Minister Han Dong-hoon, which is expected to continue for the time being.
