The United States government strongly questioned the decision of Alberto Fernández to promote a political trial once morest the judges of the Supreme Court. The US authorities called “respect democratic institutions and the separation of powers”.
From the State Department they joined the rejection of the project that might be dealt with in the next extraordinary sessions of Congress, according to the Infobae site.
“We are following the institutional situation between the Argentine Government and the Supreme Court of Justice. We believe it is necessary that all the institutional protagonists of Argentina respect democracy and the separation of powers”, specified an official of the Undersecretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs.
For the news portal, Antony Blinken’s agency already had a critical look at what was happening in Buenos Aires, following the president’s repeated statements and the recent submission to Congress of the request. A vision that would remain expectant since Alberto Fernández visited Moscow three weeks before the war with Ukraine began, when the invasion was already imminent.
Likewise, the claim made by the Head of State over the Chinese Communist Party, when he traveled to Beijing prior to the Olympic Games, would also have fallen ill. Added to the relationship that Fernández maintains with the presidents of Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba.
It remains to be seen what will happen if the impeachment trial is approved. For now, official legislators remain alert for the blockade that Together for Change imposed on the legislative agenda while the project remains in place.
Let us remember that since the end of last year, Parliament was unable to achieve the necessary consensus to carry out the sessions. «It is a frankly anti-democratic attitude”, denounced Germán Martínezleader of the bench of the Frente de Todos.
