The United States and Mexico, which already host the 2026 Men’s World Cup with Canada, have announced their bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

The country of women’s football dreams of hosting the 2027 World Cup. The United States announced on Wednesday, April 20, their joint bid with Mexico to become hosts of the Women’s World Cup in 2027.

The Mexican and American football federations revealed their plans a month ahead of the May 19 deadline set by Fifa for candidate countries to host the event to officially submit their bids.

The Women’s World Cup has already been held in the United States in 1999 and 2003, but Mexico has never hosted the competition.

In addition, these two countries, as well as Canada, already jointly host the 2026 Men’s World Cup.

“World leader in women’s football”

“The United States has always been a world leader in women’s soccer and we would be honored to host the premier women’s soccer world event with Mexico,” FA President Cindy Parlow Cone said in a statement.

“Hosting the 2027 Women’s World Cup gives us an incredible opportunity to cap off two historic years of FIFA World Cup football in the Concacaf region. [La Confédération de football d’Amérique du Nord, d’Amérique centrale et des Caraïbes]helping us to continue to develop football within the associations of our confederation,” added Cindy Parlow Cone.

The president of the Mexican Football Federation, Yon de Luisa, believes that the organization of this tournament will help develop women’s football in Mexico. “It is with pleasure that we once once more team up with the United States Soccer Federation to bring this World Cup to our region, which will undoubtedly be historic,” he added.

Decision expected in May 2024

The organization of the 2027 World Cup should be decided at the FIFA Congress in May 2024.

The United States and Mexico will compete once morest the joint bid of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, as well as those of South Africa and Brazil.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup, meanwhile, will take place from July 20 in Australia and New Zealand. For the first time, the event will be organized in the southern hemisphere.
