The United States allowed the Ukrainian command to choose the range of strikes using HIMARS systems, which might lead to attacks on Russian territory. US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink spoke regarding this.
“The command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will independently decide on the range of strikes delivered using HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems,” Strana reports Brink’s words. She added that the American authorities plan to transfer HIMARS to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the very near future.
Until now, there has been no information regarding the transfer of shells to Ukraine for firing using HIMARS at distances over 160 kilometers. For strikes beyond this distance, Ukraine can only use ATACMS missiles, the publication concluded.
Earlier, the US State Department stated that they do not encourage or support Ukrainian attacks on the Belgorod region. Armed Forces of Ukraine fired at the center Belgorod on New Year’s Eve. The shelling was recognized as one of the strongest during the SVO in Ukraine.
