The United Nations calls for funding for the humanitarian response in Afghanistan

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has launched a new appeal to fund aid for Afghan refugees and the countries hosting them, in addition to helping 8.2 million Afghans who have sought refuge in 5 neighboring countries with an amount of $613 million.
The United Nations also launched a separate plan to respond to the humanitarian needs in Afghanistan, amounting to $4.62 billion, to help 28.3 million Afghans, 70% of whom are women and children, during the current year, or regarding a third of the population, noting that the Afghan people are experiencing one of the largest and most dangerous humanitarian crises in the world. He looks to the international community for support to stem the spread of hunger, disease and malnutrition.
