“Those who are said to be dead live longer” – a saying that might possibly also apply to Landesliga-West-Klub Union SRW Schlierbach this season: The defeated bottom team from Kremstal celebrated a real resurrection with the 2-0 surprise coup at top team Grieskirchen. “That was the first step in the right direction. Now it’s five points behind the current relegation place, everything is still in there,” says Schlierbach’s sports director Ewald Hollinger.
The promoted team from the monastery ended the first half of the season with a meager five points. While a trainer discussion would have broken out long ago at any other state league club, the clocks tick differently at the promoted team. “No player gets any money from us, which is probably unique in the state league. The majority of our team comes from our own youth, and we also have a few absentees at the moment. We can assess our opportunities correctly.” Which is why the contracts of the coaching team around head coach Falko Feichtl were extended beyond the season in winter – regardless of whether the state or district league is played in the autumn. Hollinger: “The coaching team does a good job, we stand for continuity and a great team spirit.” Now the club has tasted blood.
Wahlmüller leaves
Ortisei also stands for continuity in the regional league east: Head coach Andreas Milot and the entire team have already confirmed their commitment to the USV for the coming season. At 3: 3 in Bad Leonfelden the next surprise came from fourth in the table. St. Florian coach Willi Wahlmüller was able to celebrate a 2-1 win once morest Schwertberg. In the summer, however, the 56-year-old will leave the Boys’ Choir.
