The union common front draws attention to housekeepers

The union common front continued its campaign for a revaluation of the household help sector on Tuesday, taking advantage of International Women’s Rights Day. A hundred activists went to Maisières, near Mons, to “clean” the facade of Tempo Team, a company active in the field of temporary work.

This is not the first time that the unions have symbolically sprinkled foam on the facades of companies active in the field of service vouchers. The common front had gone to Manpower in Brussels or to Tempo Team already but in Brussels.

This time, the unions took advantage of International Women’s Day to highlight a sector suffering from a lack of recognition, denigration of workers and low wages.

“We want to highlight the violence that reigns in a very feminine and very fragile sector, service vouchers”, declared Sandra Goret, of the FGTB. “The salaries are very low, the salary remains indecent. You should know that the negotiations at sector level are still frozen, which is a lack of consideration. The unions are therefore calling for a fundamental reform of the sector.”
