An association of French left forces called the New People’s Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) has chosen the letter V as its symbol. The new party symbol was unveiled during a convention in the Parisian suburb of Aubervilliers.
The leader of the new association, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, called the union not just an election coalition, but also a movement capable of influencing the entire political history of France, TASS reports.
Recall that this association appeared this week and includes four political movements: “Unsubdued France” led by Mélenchon, the Socialist Party led by Olivier Faure, the French Communist Party led by Fabien Roussel, and “Europe-Ecology-Greens” led by Janick Jadot.
It is noted that the members of the coalition have chosen a new symbol V in place of the Greek letter “phi” used by the “Unsubdued France”. Such a sign was chosen for the reason that it is the first letter in the word “victoire” – victory. The party chose purple, green, yellow and red as distinctive colors.
The immediate goal of the “New People’s Ecological and Social Union” is to win the majority of seats in the elections to the National Assembly of France. Voting in the lower house of parliament will take place in two rounds and will take place on 12 and 19 June.
