Will Smith’s dream of seeing his family achieve fame and success has made them all “unhappy”.

The 54-year-old actor had his “greatest year ever” in 2010 when Jaden, his son with Jada Pinkett Smith (now 25) broke into the movie world with “The Karate Kid” and their daughter Willow, 22, had a big hit with ‘Whip my Hair,’ but soon realized that fame and fortune aren’t everything.

He told Kevin Hart on his show “Hart to Hart”: “2010 was the best year as an artist and as a parent. Karate Kid came out in June, Whip My Hair in October. I’m to build this family dream that I had in mind.

I will do it better than my father did. We talked regarding it, my dad was violent…I thought I would never have that kind of energy with my family, and I had a dream, an idea of the family I was building. Between 2010 and 2012, I achieved everything I had dreamed of. I went beyond [mes] wildest dreams”.

But things soon turned sour, resulting in a “mutiny” on Willow’s part.

Will – who also has son Trey, 30, with ex-wife Sheree Zampino – continued: “No one in my family was happy. No one wanted to be in a peloton. Willow was the first to start the mutiny, and I understood for the first time that success and money were not synonymous with happiness. Until that time, I really believed that one might succeed – to have a house and a family – and that you might earn your way to happiness”.
