Al-Marsad newspaper: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Asiri, explained that the nature of monkeypox infection is not as infectious as viruses such as influenza or corona.
And he said during his intervention with “The Fourth Bulletin” on “Al-Arabiya” channel that monkeypox is a contagious disease only when the patient has clear symptoms, which are blisters in the skin filled with fluid, preceded by a high temperature.
And he continued, if an infected person is inside a means of transportation such as an airplane, which is rare, all those present are examined to ensure that there is no infection and their monitoring continues for 21 days from the date of exposure. Adding, so far, no cases of infection have been recorded within the means of transport.
He pointed out that the 3 cases that were monitored in the Kingdom were primary cases related to travel, and the infection was not transmitted from them to anyone, whether in transportation or within the Kingdom.
