Simon Terodde has been at FC Schalke 04 for less than three years and still feels like a little club legend. But things won’t work out for the striker this season – at least when it comes to scoring goals. And everyone knows that it is extremely important to him.
Does Simon Terodde have the courage to last another year? One thing is certain: If he continues to play, it will be for FC Schalke 04. But a new option could be added to his contract in the first summer.
FC Schalke 04: Terodde before the end of his career?
The Bocholt native is now 35 years old. A stately footballer’s age at which many professionals have already hung up their boots. Will Terodde follow in the summer? He actually announced his departure from S04 last May. Then came the turnaround with a contract extension until 2026 – but not without a special option. Every summer he can decide together with the club whether he wants to continue playing or end his active career and start managing the Knappen.

This option could now be used in the first year. Even though Terodde is valued under coach Karel Geraerts, is a captain and a regular player, he is not entirely happy with his situation. Because goals are everything for the goalgetter. As important as he is for the team in other ways: if Terodde doesn’t score, he’s missing the salt in the soup. And he doesn’t score. Three meager goals are on his record after 21 match days.
Future as S04 striker uncertain
If this rate does not increase significantly by the end of the season, the end of a great career is looming. It’s been over 15 years since his professional debut (October 19, 2008 for MSV Duisburg). Whether the legendary FC Schalke 04 striker will stick around for another year is currently up in the air and has certainly not yet been decided. Due to the meager number of goals and the crisis season with the S04, doubts have arisen as to whether he should do this for another season – or end a great career with almost 400 games and 200 goals in the 1st and 2nd league.
