“This recognition is not the result of chance,” he insists. It follows the “ambitious” plan adopted by the European Commission on the subject, follows in the footsteps of the recommendations of the OECD and the universal definition of the SSE adopted by the International Labor Conference. A work pushed by the defenders of the social and solidarity economy, embodied by the speech of the mayor of Bordeaux given in July 2022 at the UN platform while at the same time, the Gironde forest was devoured by flames . “Our house is on fire and we are looking elsewhere”, launched Pierre Hurmic, paraphrasing Jacques Chirac’s famous formula to better emphasize “the need to change course and lead the ecological and social transformation of our economy”.

According to Pierre Hurmic, the resolution adopted by the UN must therefore ensure that the SSE “is no longer considered as a shock absorber or an alternative economy, but indeed as a pillar of the economy of tomorrow”, responding to the concerns of younger generations to “change work” and the aspirations of consumers to “find ethics on the label”. However, this resolution is considered only as “a step”, “a step forward in the global recognition of the social and solidarity economy”.
