The UN human rights chief calls on Russia to immediately end its attacks in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Air Force said earlier that 114 out of 158 air targets were destroyed during this mass attack. At least 20 people were killed and over a hundred were injured in Ukraine on Friday.

“I am shocked by yet another large-scale missile and drone attacks coordinated by the Russian Federation in Ukraine at night,” V. Turk said in a statement.

He noted that various civil and energy infrastructures, including residences, maternity homes, schools, kindergartens, parks, a metro station and a shopping mall, were affected in the attacks.

The UN human rights chief added that damaged power lines had caused power outages in several regions, and rescuers were still searching for people trapped under the rubble of residential buildings.

“International humanitarian law clearly prohibits attacks targeting civilian objects under any circumstances, as well as indiscriminate attacks,” V. Turk said.

“I once once more call on the Russian Federation to immediately stop attacks once morest Ukraine and to strictly comply with all norms of international law related to the conduct of hostilities,” he emphasized.
