Procedure and grouping
The starting shot is fired on Friday afternoon, when each team plays the first of their three group games. It continues on Saturday with the last two games in the group phase, one in the morning and one in the afternoon or early evening. On the final Sunday, the placement games and the big final in the Allianz Stadium, followed by the award ceremony (scheduled for 1:30 p.m.) are on the program. The playing time per game is 2×25 minutes.
The draw for the three-day SK Rapid U15 VARTA tournament resulted in the following constellation. In Group A, the SK Rapid U15s meet FC Barcelona, FC Brugge and Austria Wien. So the green-white youngsters can expect not only the big duel with FC Barcelona in the group phase, but also a Vienna derby. The kick-off takes place on Friday against the reigning Spanish champions. On Saturday, the Hütteldorfers ask their city rivals to dance before the day ends with the duel against FC Brugge. In Group B, Ajax Amsterdam, FC Bayern Munich, SK Sturm and defending champions GNK Dinamo Zagreb are dueling.

The results in recent years speak for the good youth work of the Austrian record champions. In the ten previous editions, the Rapid Youngsters have won the tournament five times.

VARTA has been the main sponsor of the international SK Rapid U15 VARTA tournament since 2014, thereby securing the future of the youth football tournament. The partnership between VARTA and Rapid was not only deepened by the “Körner Training Center powered by VARTA”, but also by the VARTA rookie concept implemented last year: The youngest player and thus VARTA rookie of the game starts with a VARTA single breast branding in the Bundesliga. The aim is to draw the spotlight on the young Rapid talents and to encourage them.
