Skin Types and Risks

A total of four skin types can be distinguished in categories A to D: Type A is characterized by very light skin and is therefore considered to be particularly at risk of sunburn. Particular caution is also required for type B, who is also light-skinned, while the risks are no longer quite as serious for the slightly tanned type C. Dark skin type D has to be the least afraid of sunburn.#%

Of course, if you want to protect your skin, you have to wear sunscreen. So far so good – and of course not big news. But the calculation is not that simple following all.

The range of sun protection cosmetics is diverse and ranges from classic sun milk to creams, sprays and sun oils to gels. And then there’s SPF, which ultimately protects the skin from the effects of UV radiation. While UV-B rays can cause sunburn, UV-A rays are responsible for the formation of wrinkles and skin aging.

The individually correct sun protection depends on various parameters, as dermatologist Monika Fohr knows: “On the one hand, it depends very much on the skin type. Anyone who tends to have dry skin should rather use something moisturizing such as ointments. For combination skin in the face area or people with oily skin skin type should resort to drier alternatives. This also applies to people with acne, for whom gels or fluids are ideal. When exercising, it is more comfortable to use a sunscreen that is not too greasy. This clogs the pores. or Wetgele would be recommended here.”
