The number of existing LEGOs is enormous; there are more than 20,000 references. And this figure, although already impressive, continues to grow. Every month, or almost, new sets complete it. LEGO has also spoiled us with particularly successful constructions like Harry Potter’s Gringotts Wizarding Bank, The Peaceful Garden, Captain America’s Shield, etc.
However, to avoid displaying hundreds of sets for each range, LEGO also regularly sorts. You can see the words “Last chance” on certain sets. This means that LEGO is stopping producing these sets and once stocks are gone, they will gradually disappear from the catalog.
See LEGOs soon to be withdrawn from sale
Currently, no less than 326 LEGOs will soon be withdrawn from sale. A rather significant figure, especially since among the sets concerned we find recent products including Avatar sets released last year such as Neytiri and the Thanator vs. Quaritch in the AMP exoskeleton and the Brick Headz Jake Sully and his Avatar.
If for some, this decision can be explained by a certain lack of appeal, this is not the case for other sets such as The Coliseum, The haunted house of the funfair, The Bird of Paradise, the Ford Mustang and many others which are among the most beautiful sets for adults. Likewise, many Star Wars sets such as the AT-AT, the TIE Fighter Imperial or even the adorable baby Yoda from The Mandalorian “the Child” are leaving the catalog
.
The LEGO Harry Potter collection does not escape this autumn cleaning and loses several sets in the process, which once assembled, made it possible to reproduce Hogwarts Castle like The Hogwarts Astronomy Tower, the Hogwarts courtyard: the rescue of Sirius, the Hogwarts infirmary, etc. Some of the sets in this collection have already become rare and have seen their prices rise, such as Encounter with Touffu (76387).
Will we still be able to find the sets removed from the LEGO catalog?
326 is a lot… Especially since in the lot, there were perhaps some sets that caught your eye. That said, this does not mean that they will be deleted overnight, although it remains difficult to predict when exactly this will happen…
This is not the first time – nor the last – that LEGO has abandoned some of its sets. Several LEGOs are now impossible to find and have therefore seen their prices rise on resale sites. For example, an old edition of the Millennium Falcon, namely the ultimate collector’s Millennium Falcon (10179), now sells for around €3,000. This also applies to sets like the Grocery Store (10185) which some sell for around €2000.
This does not mean, however, that all LEGOs with the “last chance” label will become sought following, far from it. Some might even be offered at a reduced price in order to finish emptying stocks. However, when it comes to LEGO Star Wars, Harry Potter, Icons (like Santa’s Visit), caution remains in order. If some of these sets tempt you, it’s best not to hang around too long.
And if the set you were voting for has already disappeared, you can always take a look at Amazon, which offers a large choice of LEGO!
