  • Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov to replace Oleksii Reznikov as defense ministergiven the accentuation of Russian pressure in the east and following corruption scandals, announced on Sunday evening, MP David Arakhamia, leader of the parliamentary group of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s party.
  • Mr. Reznikov’s departure comes at a time when « the situation [est] very difficult in the area [orientale] de Donetsk, [où] there are fierce battles”underlined Sunday evening the Ukrainian president, in his daily update.
  • The replacement of the Minister of Defense will therefore not take place this weekseveral MPs said on Monday. “Personnel changes in the defense sector will not take place this week”notably indicated on Telegram Mr. Arakhamia. Another Ukrainian MP from the presidential party, Mariana Bezuhla, claimed on Facebook that the reshuffle was “suspended until the end of the week” while the government “assess the risks” posed by such a change as Russian military pressure intensified in the east of the country.
  • The Norwegian government announced Monday its intention to pay, over five years, aid of 75 billion Norwegian kroner (6.8 billion euros) to Ukraine. “We are proposing that Norway commits to give a long-term contribution to Ukraine”, said the Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Store, during a press conference. The amount of this aid, both for military and humanitarian purposes; is still likely to be modified in Parliament where the centre-left government is in a minority and needs the support of other parties to have its proposals adopted.
