“In Poland, we are starting to prepare the first Ukrainian brigade of volunteers. We have up to 1 million Ukrainians of both sexes (in the country), and several thousand of them have already registered to take part in this undertaking. Interestingly, many of them really want to serve and change their compatriots (on the front), but they say: we do not want to be sent into combat without proper training and equipment,” Sikorski emphasized.

The Minister noted that the Polish side will provide training and equipment to the volunteers, and then these people will be sent to Ukraine with the right to return to Poland following the rotation.

“If every European country did this, Ukraine would have several brigades,” the minister admitted.

As reported, the agreement on security guarantees signed between Ukraine and Poland provides for the creation of a volunteer legion in Poland with the possible participation of foreigners. According to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, any citizen of this country who decides to join the volunteer legion will be able to sign a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov called on all Ukrainians in Europe to join the Ukrainian Legion.

“This initiative demonstrates the unwavering support and solidarity of our European partners, as well as our readiness to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. We call on all Ukrainians in Europe to join the Ukrainian Legion. Your contribution to our fight for freedom and independence is invaluable. Every step brings us closer to victory!” Umierov stressed in a message on Facebook. (PAP)
