As the battles intensified in the small Ukrainian town of Solidar, Kyiv confirmed Friday that its army was responding to a “very intense” Russian attack in the town, despite a “hot night and continuous hostilities.” Solidar is known for its salt mines and rich natural resources that the Russian Wagner Group wants to acquire. On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pledged to provide “all necessary” equipment for his forces, who are resisting Russian attacks in Bakhmut and Solidar.
Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Ghana Malyar confirmed Friday morning in a message on the Telegram application that her country is currently responding For a “very intense” Russian attack in Solidar Despite the “hot night and constant hostilities” in this small town in the east of the country.
“The enemy has pushed almost all of its main forces towards Donetsk (region) and is continuing a very intensive attack,” Malyar added, describing it as “a difficult stage of the war.” And she added, “This is a difficult stage of the war, but we will win it,” stressing that “our fighters are trying bravely to defend ourselves.”
Fighting has been raging in and around Solidar for months, but has intensified in recent days. The Ukrainian army is fighting in this small town known as the salt mines, the mercenaries of the Russian armed Wagner group.
On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky promised to provide “everything necessary” for his army, which is resisting Russian attacks in Solidar, but also in Bakhmut, a large city in the east that the Russians have been trying to seize since the summer of 2022.
