Evangelical Churches: No difference among those seeking protection
The Protestant churches in Hesse express their gratitude for the willingness to help in taking in war refugees from the Ukraine. That’s what the intercultural commissioner of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau, Andreas Lipsch, told the epd.
He pointed out that among the refugees there were also many people seeking protection from Syria, Afghanistan, Chechnya and Somalia who lived in Ukraine. “That’s why we appeal: Don’t forget anyone. Our solidarity and helpfulness must apply to all those seeking protection, without distinction,” said Lipsch. He also explained that the churches “would very much appreciate” being included in the planning and organization of the reception of refugees by the state of Hesse.
