The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Statement on US-British Strikes in Yemen: Implications for Maritime Navigation

Dubai United Arab Emirates (CNN)– On Friday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement following the US-British strikes on Houthi sites in Yemen. The Ministry stressed the UAE’s concern regarding the consequences of the attacks on maritime navigation in Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea, according to the statement published by the Emirates News Agency, WAM.

The ministry said in its statement: “The UAE expresses its deep concern regarding the repercussions of the attacks on maritime navigation in the Bab al-Mandab region and the Red Sea, which represent an unacceptable threat to global trade, the security of the region, and international interests.”

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: “In this context, the UAE stresses the importance of preserving the security of the region and the interests of its countries and peoples within the frameworks of international laws and norms,” according to WAM.

Earlier, Friday, the American and British militaries announced launching strikes once morest multiple Houthi targets in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.

The Commander of the US Central Command Air Forces, General Alex Greenkewich, said that US and coalition forces bombed more than 60 targets in 16 sites of Houthi militants in Yemen.
