The UAE hosted the work of the Economic Forum of the Arab-Russian Business Council under the title: “Russia and the Arab World.. New Opportunities in the New Reality” within the activities of the “Expo 2020 Dubai” exhibition, jointly organized by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the UAE, the Federation of Arab Chambers and the Arab Business Council The Russian Federation, with the support and sponsorship of the Tawazun Economic Council (Tawazun) and the Mubadala Investment Company, and a number of authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Economy, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation, the Sharjah Chamber, the Emirates Businesswomen Council, and the Russian Businesswomen Council, in cooperation With many Arab and Russian economic and media institutions. The attendance was distinguished from the Arab side, represented by 16 Arab countries, with delegations of senior officials, business owners, companies, heads and members of Arab federations and chambers, headed by Abdullah Muhammad Al Mazrouei, President of the Federation of Arab Chambers, President of the Federation of Emirates Chambers.

The forum was attended by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the UAE, who delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, and praised the economic and trade relations between the UAE and Russia, which are developing and growing steadily, looking forward to broader prospects of cooperation in various productive, industrial, energy and water sectors.

Also speaking at the forum was Timur Zapirov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the UAE, on behalf of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, stressing the friendly and friendly relations between Russia and the Arab world, which the Russian government is working to develop to reach the highest levels.

During its two-day sessions, which included the participation of a number of heads and secretaries of Arab chambers, advisors and experts from the Arab and Russian sides, the forum discussed the prospects for the development of Russian-Arab relations in the new global reality, and ways to develop Arab-Russian cooperation in a number of fields, including finance, investment and information systems. The digital economy, the agricultural sector, food security issues, medicine, pharmacy, the logistics sector and services.

The forum also discussed the role of women entrepreneurs in light of new global trends, and the role of Arab and Russian unions in helping Russian and Arab exporters, strengthening Arab-Russian trade partnerships, and discussing mechanisms to mitigate the shocks caused by the spread of the Corona virus during the past two years.

The participants in the forum stressed the importance of relations and upgrading them to the level of strategic relations, so that both parties benefit from them, especially in the areas of investment in new sectors, including modern and developed sectors, and in the agricultural, infrastructure, and clean energy fields.

The participants emphasized the importance of the increase in the volume of trade in recent years, which shows positive developments in the economic relations between Russia and the Arab world. The participants indicated that despite the Corona pandemic, the relationship of cooperation is moving towards a sustainable and developing path, and the two parties were keen to document it and raise it to the level of strategic cooperation.

The forum also witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Council of Businesswomen in the Arab and Russian sides to strengthen relations and exchange expertise and experiences.
