The UAE government awards Yahsat a contract worth 18.7 billion dirhams

Al Yah Satellite Communications Company announced yesterday that its government arm, Yahsat Government Services (YGS), has obtained a mandate from the UAE government, under which Yahsat will provide space capacity on satellites and managed services over a period of 17 years. Within a contract with a total value of 18.7 billion dirhams.

The commissioning order granted to Yahsat includes a set of services related to the operation, maintenance and technical management of terrestrial satellite systems and substations, which the company is currently providing to the government under a separate contract. It will replace two current agreements between the UAE government and Yahsat: The Satellite Capacity Services Agreement (CSA) and Managed Services Mandate (MSM), which expire in November and December 2026, respectively.

The company stated in a statement that, in accordance with the assignment order, “Yahsat” will provide safe and reliable satellite capacity, in addition to related managed services via the “Al Yah 1” and “Al Yah 2” satellites, both of which are currently in operation, provided that The process of providing these services is enhanced through the two new satellites, “Al Yah 4” and “Al Yah 5,” which are expected to be launched in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
