ABU DHABI, 20th April, 2020 (WAM) — The UAE announced the success of its mediation, in coordination and cooperation with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, to ensure the safety of the Egyptian soldiers in the Rapid Support Forces, and to hand them over to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Khartoum.
The two brotherly countries expressed their appreciation to the International Red Cross for its efforts in supporting the process of ensuring the safety of Egyptian soldiers.
The foreign ministries of the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt stated that this step comes within the framework of the two countries’ stance in support of calm through continuous communication with the Sudanese parties to ensure restraint, stop escalation, and return to the political track.
The two ministries affirmed the commitment of the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt to continue their efforts aimed at stopping the fighting and protecting civilians and civilian facilities, and stressed the importance of intensifying efforts aimed at returning to the political framework and dialogue to resolve all differences and move forward in the transitional phase to reach the desired political and security stability in Sudan.
