Tunisia – Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar conveyed to his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, the Tunisian leadership’s decision to strengthen the representation of the Tunisian Embassy in Damascus, and to appoint an ambassador at its head.

Yesterday, Wednesday, a phone call took place between Al-Miqdad and Ammar, during which the two ministers exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, as well as opinions on the bilateral relations between the two countries, and the importance of strengthening and developing them in various fields.

Minister Mekdad expressed the appreciation of the Syrian Arab Republic for President Qais Saeed’s decision to raise the level of diplomatic representation at the Tunisian embassy in Damascus to the level of an ambassador, “within the framework of affirming the mutual affection between the leaderships and peoples of the two brotherly countries, Syria and Tunisia.”

Al-Miqdad made it clear that Syria will take the initiative, during the next few days, to reopen its embassy in Tunisia, so that diplomatic representation will be at the level of an ambassador.

In addition, the two ministers discussed the importance of strengthening relations between the two brotherly countries in the diplomatic, political, economic and cultural fields, and the importance of continuing consultations between them in everything related to the Arab, regional and international situations.
