Minimalism is the order of the day when it comes to today’s look with a black linen tunic. A tunic is timeless, it is classic and noble. It impresses with its simplicity and elegance. Dresses for the summer can do without floral patterns and explosions of colour. The minimalist tunic is characterized by its simple cut and reduced details. It is timeless and can certainly be classified as sustainable. After all, you wear a linen dress for many years. It is always the right choice when we are invited to a garden party in summer.

3 styling ideas for a black tunic

A tunic is a piece of clothing that accompanies us through the summer. Whether you’re travelling, in your free time or at home on the terrace following a stressful day at work – slip on and feel good. That’s my feeling as soon as I wear a tunic. It feels airy and light on the skin. It never constricts and makes many a figure problem disappear optically. With a few changes in terms of accessories and shoes, you can achieve a new appearance with the timeless classic. Be inspired by my styling ideas.

Tunic with statement chain

Modern accessories, such as eye-catching statement necklaces and matching larger bracelets, make the tunic an extravagant outfit for the next garden party in no time at all. I wear flat silver ballerinas with my tunic. High-heeled pumps are not recommended for a casual tunic style.

Tunic for summer feeling

Tunic with green accessories and hat

A snappy straw hat and an elegant tunic exudes a pure summer feeling. With a few green accessories, the tunic becomes an uncomplicated combination partner. The large green-beige horn necklace is a real eye-catcher. This combination can of course be easily realized with all other bright colors. Do you have a long horn chain in your range of accessories?

Tunic in black

Tunic with an elegant cashmere scarf

I combine two extremely noble materials here: linen and cashmere. The scarf made of fine baby cashmere can be used as a stole or scarf on cooler days. On the next boat trip it will definitely be used in light winds.

What can be omitted?

If we decide to wear a tunic as a garment, we can definitely leave the blazer and coat at home. It should never be styled too sexy, but rather casually. True to the motto: Less is more.

Accessories

We ladies 50plus can play with accessories just as well as the younger generation. Readers often ask me whether they can combine eye-catching accessories with their looks. Why not? Large earrings can be worn as well as statement necklaces. It should not be combined all at once if you are not comfortable with it. But an extravagant statement necklace suits every woman if the breast area is not the most conspicuous part of the body shape.

A snappy straw hat in summer is pure femininity. Not every lady over the age of 50 has to follow the “fisherman hats” trend, which is currently popular. I’m not comfortable with it at all. So I leave out this hat shape in my styling. There are plenty of other accessories that I like. These are sunglasses, earrings, bracelets and beautiful necklaces.

tunic and sunglasses

I wear shawls and scarves almost all year round. Whether casually slung over your shoulder on a mild summer night, or tied around your neck as a scarf when it’s cooler. A scarf is and remains an accessory that complements minimalism well.

Whether on Mallorca or in the city of Munich, the tunic is a must-have for the summer. It can be combined well with trousers if the cut allows it. My tunic is open on the side up to the thigh, has a V-neckline and extravagant trumpet sleeves. For the ultimate summer feeling, I will wear flip-flops. My tunic “CONNY” is from Simone Bruns – click here.
