Following US President Joe Biden’s doubts regarding Hamas’s reported casualty figures in the recent war once morest Israel, the radical Islamic Palestinian organization published on Tuesday a list with the names of almost 7,000 people who are said to have been killed in Israeli attacks. The list published by Hamas’s Ministry of Health contains 6,747 names, information regarding the victims’ ages and genders, and their ID numbers.

281 bodies have not yet been identified. A statement from the Hamas Ministry of Health said the US had “brazenly” expressed doubts regarding the accuracy of the reported death figures. “We have decided to share the (…) names of the victims with the whole world so that the truth regarding the genocide committed once morest our people by the Israeli occupation is known.”

Biden said on Wednesday that he had “no confidence” in the militant group’s claims regarding its fatalities. Israeli military spokesman Richard Hecht said on Thursday: “If Hamas’ health ministry publishes figures, they should be viewed with caution.”

Heavily armed Hamas attackers launched a major attack on Israel on October 7th. Israel then put the Gaza Strip under constant fire. Since the Israeli attacks began, 6,546 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, according to the latest Hamas figures, which might not be independently verified.

After a rocket hit a hospital in Gaza City last week, Hamas spoke of an Israeli airstrike and said hundreds of people had been killed. Israel blamed the incident on a misguided rocket fired from the Gaza Strip and questioned the reported number of casualties. European and US intelligence agencies also assumed a lower death toll.
