From the true story of Mariquita Sánchez de Thompson, Nora Inés Schiavoni revalues the figure of this woman from the colonial era in a work starring Bernardita Orengo and Susana Giannonecon directed by Marcela Grasso. In the middle of the 19th century, in a prestigious and wealthy house in Buenos Aires, a 14 year old girl rebels and she confronts the highest authority, her father, refusing the marriage that was imposed on her. A true scandal for that time and that became the first dissent trial of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. The result? Mariquita was able to marry Martin Thompson, the man she had chosen for her life. This is how the legend of one of the most prominent female influences in the revolutionary process in our country was born.

With the name of Ladybug: the real revolution, A little-known historical event is narrated in the life of the woman in whose house the National Anthem was performed for the first time. and she was born to show courage and revolutionary character who is best known for being a companion to historical events, exhibiting the other side of this personality from the past, much more than “the object woman” of that moment.
Inspired by a series of stories by the author of the piece, where she portrays women from Argentine history, we talked with one of the two actresses, the one who has a great weight in this production because plays five different characters that surround Mariquita: Susana Giannone, who hours before the premiere, this Saturday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Nün Teatro Bar (Juan Ramiíez de Velazco 419, CABA), anticipated the work:

As Susana tells, in this proposal she plays several characters: the narrator who tells the story, Tomasa the lady who is with Mariquita, the mother, the viceroy’s emissary and the best friend. What a task for a single interpreter, who joins the other to tell us the story, hand in hand with a very feminine team also made up of Macarena Santamaria in the dressing room, the set design by Agustín Justo Yoshimoto, Gustavo List in lighting, Valerio Rinaldi in music and historical review of Mariana Paganini.

This is how a very attractive combo is put together that will offer, in an untraditional but very convenient schedule, a more than interesting option for the public of all ages. Find more information regarding tickets here.
