It’s official, the tripartite measures will come into force. The government, the unions (OGBL, LCGB, GCFP) and the employers (UEL) signed this Wednesday noon, the document of the tripartite, in a rather solemn ceremony. The representatives of the different parties took turns initialing the document.
The latter has been written since the middle of last week. The participants in the tripartite had reached an agreement on Tuesday evening, following three long days of negotiations devoted to the consequences of soaring energy prices. In order to limit the rise in the price of gas and heating oil, the State will bear part of the costs, via subsidies.
In addition, the VAT will decrease by one percentage point, regardless of the products. Additional aid is also planned to finance ecological products, such as photovoltaics and electric cars. The social partners have also agreed not to postpone automatic wage indexation. Prime Minister Xavier Bettel will detail the measures this Wednesday followingnoon in the Chamber of Deputies.
