The tribute of the parents of Fernando Báez Sosa 3 years after his murder

The parents of Fernando Báez Sosa, the 18-year-old boy beaten to death at the door of a nightclub in Villa Gesell, led an interreligious ceremony and a solidarity collection this Wednesday at the Amphitheater in the Buenos Aires city of Dolores for a new anniversary of the crime of the young

Those present stood up, applauded and shouted “Justice!” when Graciela Sosa and Silvino Báez appeared embracing. Once the victim’s parents sat in the front row, the act began.

First they lit some candles, then they planted a jacaranda and then a song was sung.

Fernando’s mother requested authorization from the Dolores authorities to perform the tribute in the Amphitheater and to have a screen to project images, in addition to using the lighting and public bathrooms, everything was provided by the Municipality.

In the act his parents spoke. Her mother Graciela Sosa assured that she is still waiting for her son to return even though she knows “that he will never return”, since he was her “sun”, her “life” and the one who “gave them joy every day”. .

“Thank you, my love, my life, for having given us happiness for 18 years,” said Graciela.

For his part, his father, Silvino Báez, said that he expects an “exemplary punishment” for the murderers and assured that every time he gets up in the morning he feels “an enormous weight”, as if he “carried a bag on his back”.

“I hope that young people who are on the beach having fun can return home, with their parents and family following a vacation,” he said.
