They moved the fight once morest cancer… by moving themselves. 234 motivated women ran the Roses d’Antibes Triathlon. To participate, they had to raise the minimum sum of 150 euros (if they ran individually) or 250 euros (if they participated as a team). Free donations were also possible.
In total, they collected 545,658 euros. They were donated to the foundation that organized the triathlon: the Cancer Research Foundation (ARC). Each year, it allocates more than 26 million euros to research with the aim of curing two out of three cancers by 2025.
Several testimonies
On the platform which centralizes donations, the participants all left a message. “My first challenge following the operation, and the first two chemo sessions, was to walk around my table ten times. The second: to walk to the end of the street. Then the path. Then get on the a bike to the physiotherapist and, finally, embark on this crazy race in my eyes”, indicates Angélique. Who managed to bring together 63 donors, collecting more than 4,000 euros.
“For those who have fought, are fighting and will fight”
Nathalie achieved this sporting feat for her friend Fabienne. “In 2007 I lost an extraordinary friend. She was 37 years old. We called her Fifi. For her memory but also for all those who fought, are fighting and will have to fight once morest this damn cancer”, she writes. In support, 27 donors helped him raise 1,370 euros.
Even though the month of October is over, the fight continues all year round. The teams that organize the Triathlon des Roses are already working on the next edition, for which registrations will start in March.
