The Supreme Court issued a four-page written decision on the bail of PTI founder Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher case.

The written judgment said that there was no evidence of the commission of the offense under Section 5(3) B of the Official Secrets Act and that there was sufficient evidence to refer the accused for the commission of the offense of the Official Secrets Act.

In this regard, it was said that the decision of further investigation can be taken by the trial court only after reviewing the evidence.

Justice Athar Manullah said in his additional note that the crime the accused are accused of committing does not fall under the category of crimes including rape, murder of children, and other crimes that may pose a threat to the society.

He said that the investigation has been completed and the trial is still going on while the trial is entirely dependent on the documentary evidence.

Justice Athar Manullah wrote that the imprisonment of the petitioners will not yield any substantial results, while the present release on bail can ensure the holding of elections in the real sense, so there is no reason to reject their bail plea. .

It should be noted that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had approved the post-arrest bail application of former and Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher case.
