It seems that white smoke rose this time from the chimney of the Ministry of Education following a meeting that lasted for regarding three hours between the Minister of Education and the associations of teachers and contractors of all names.
The Minister of Education informed them that 3 salaries for teachers will be paid, in addition to 130 dollars as incentives, as was the case last year, plus the transport allowance, which has not been determined, pending the decision of the ministerial committee in charge of studying the reality of the public sector next week.
As for contract teachers, the hourly allowance has been raised to 180,000 for secondary teachers and 100,000 for primary teachers, in addition to incentives of 130 dollars and transportation allowance.
The minister also informed the recruits that their case had been resolved through the “UNICEF”, which will handle the issue of salaries and transportation for this category of teachers, who teach refugees in Lebanon.
The gathered sources confirmed that “the associations will invite the general assemblies to convene to study the recommendation to lift the strike and start the school year.”
