Exclusive translation: The family of former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf announced that he was taken to hospital in the UAE after his condition deteriorated as he was going through a “difficult phase”.
In a press release, Musharraf’s family explained that he was hospitalized 3 weeks ago due to complications of his disease (amyloidosis), a rare disease that occurs when an abnormal protein accumulates in the organs and interferes with normal function.
Earlier, his close aide and former Minister of Information Fouad Chaudhry said that General Musharraf is in critical condition and that he is dependent on a ventilator in a hospital in the UAE.
