Francisco Labbé told the associated media El Día regarding his experience in the same “bungee” as the accident this Wednesday, an event that happened on one of his vacations, fortunately without fatal consequences, although equally worrying.

It is not the first incident of “Mundo Dinamo”

According to the Serenian, a few years ago he jumped from the same place and was suspended in the air due to a mechanical failure.

“In this bungee (the one in Cajón del Maipo) they don’t take you down, but rather they take you back up to the platform. I have jumped in others, I jumped in Mendoza (Argentina) for example and, when you fall, you are left hanging, then they lower the rope and make you reach the ground. Here it is the other way around, you jump and then they lift you up once more to leave,” she explains.

The mechanism details, it is a pulley with a motor to be able to lift the person, which failed when he made his jump.

“At that moment when I jumped, it failed, so he mightn’t lift me up mechanically and they had to lift me up by hand. That meant I was hanging for approximately 45 minutes,” she added.

Although he was able to be rescued from the scene unharmed, Labbé remembers that they were distressing moments, both for him and for his partner and his 6-year-old son, who accompanied him that day.

“I didn’t know anything, I was downstairs and no one told me anything regarding the problem, because I mightn’t listen and I didn’t have a radio, nothing. First I saw that they mightn’t lift me up, then I saw that the person was lifting me up by hand. It’s a metal strap that was going up little by little and I felt the cable pass and I thought it was going to cut. When you’ve been hanging for more than 20 minutes, you still get nervous,” she said.

Finally, he managed to get out and left. The company apologized and offered him “as compensation” to be able to launch for free another day, which he did not accept.
