Books – Muhammad Shaaban:

On Wednesday morning before last, Salah al-Laboudi Street was crowded with policemen, including investigation officers and the regime, who formed mini circles indicating that the event was not easy, with the imposition of a security cordon around a property that has become the focus of attention in search of deciphering the algorithm of blood and honor crimes.

A month and a half ago, she married a man in her thirties, to reap the title of the third wife, bidding farewell to the life of celibacy in the hope of receiving a social life, the pillar of her tent, “He is still a man, and there is no need for caution.”

The husband used to frequent the matrimonial nest periodically, as if he were walking on a schedule divided between his wives, but he did not realize for a moment that the list of women who were married to him would soon be reduced in number in a tragic way and a bloody memory.

Returning to the narrow street lined with real estate in Izbat al-Sa`idah in the Imbaba district, north of Giza, a report was received by Major General Muhammad al-Sharqawi, Director of the Giza Investigation, that there was a coma on Salah al-Labudi Street from Canal al-Sawahil.

The preliminary inspection, which was supervised by Major General Ahmed Al-Wateidi, Director of Criminal Investigations – and in the presence of a team from the Public Prosecution – revealed the presence of the body of a 38-year-old woman tied with ropes, with traces of an assault on the scalp with a sharp object.

With his usual calmness and remarkable presence, Colonel Muhammad Rabie, the inspector of the Imbaba Division and Al-Munira, arrived at the crime scene. Rabih did not need to inquire regarding anything, and began to accomplish what he used to do throughout his police life by collecting information and, before that, examining the crime scene accurately.

Legal entry through the door of the apartment and the absence of a scattering of the contents of the apartment, with which the detectives ruled out the hypothesis of murder motivated by theft. The research team moved to the next step by examining the surveillance cameras, but they carried bad news and did not detect anything.

Turning to the office of the department overlooking the Nile Corniche, Brigadier General Hani Shaarawy, Head of Criminal Investigations for the North Sector, follows up on the developments of the case and the latest findings of the officers, giving them the key to solving the mystery, “The killer will not go outside the building.”

The first suspect was the husband. However, the investigations led by Lieutenant Colonel Moamen Farag, Chief of Imbaba Investigations, and his assistant, Major Amr Mumtaz, proved that he was in his home among his children, coinciding with the commission of the crime, so that the members of the research team expanded the circle of suspicion and included the neighbours.

Day following day, the officers did not lose hope, as the sun set, that the solution to the case was within reach, and that the fall of the perpetrator would not be long. The criminal investigation elements followed the precise research plan prepared by Brigadier General Hani Shaarawy and supervised its implementation by Colonel Muhammad Rabie.

By examining and using modern technologies and activating confidential sources of information, the suspicion of a man in his fifties who lives in the same property has been reduced, especially with suspicions regarding the movement of his entry and exit from the property as if it were “excessive.”

Discussing his wife was Al-Faisal, and her tongue uttered the decisive saying, “Anyone who asks you where were you, told me that you were not in the building,” the account that contradicted his path, so that the fingers of accusation were directed at him, and he became with her the main suspect.

With the completion of the picture, the investigations officers put the investigation file in front of the decision-maker to quickly direct the arrest of the suspect and confront him with the evidence and the results of the search. The 53-year-old defendant tried to evade the investigation men by removing his suspicions and proving that he was not in the property at the time, but his wife’s speech ended that skit, causing him to lose his balance and speak the truth, “I will say everything, Pasha.”

The victim, of good manners, was loved and respected by her neighbors, including her killer. The thirty-something used to treat him like an older brother who gave her advice and accepted her safety, but a demon lurking inside his mind and between his ribs begged him to come to her once morest her will.

On the day of the crime, the accused knocked on his neighbor’s door and exchanged conversations with her before proceeding to implement his plan, which was full of lustful instincts and he implored her to herself, but she refused and threatened him to tell her husband, so he killed her with a strong blow on her head and then tied her up to make it appear that it was a crime of theft, except that the intelligence of the detectives gave him iron handcuffs His freedom was restricted with her.
