Small revolution on the side of ASO, the organizing company of the Tour de France. While the 2023 edition of the Grande Boucle will start from Bilbao on July 1, it has indeed been decided to revamp the green jersey, traditionally awarded to the best sprinter (Wout van Aert won it last year).
From the first glance, we can see that the color has changed, since the jersey goes from a light pastel green to a darker green and probably less easily recognizable in the peloton. Note also that, unlike previous years, the sleeves and collar will have a different color from the rest.
Instigator of this change of look, Skoda. The Czech brand, sponsor of the green jersey, also decided to change its colors last October. It was therefore decided to follow this movement by using the two main colors of Skoda on the Tour’s green jersey.
A drastic change that was not to the liking of Internet users. On Twitter, one viewer felt they had “killed the green jersey.” Another wrote that according to him this “wasn’t great and that it was going to take some getting used to.”
Overall, moreover, this new version has garnered a lot of negative comments, many not understanding the reasons for this change which… brings nothing positive.
This jersey will therefore be worn on the Tour but also on Paris-Nice and the Critérium d’après-Tour.
