The touching story of the year-end lottery ticket seller refused to be hospitalized because of her child

That is the story of Ms. LTT (56 years old, living in Tien Giang). 6 months ago, she knew she had a very large ovarian tumor but still refused to be hospitalized for treatment.

I found out that 3 years ago since her husband’s death, she had to sell lottery tickets to cover all living expenses for the family, including the tuition fees of her youngest son, a 4th year university student, majoring in Technology. information. Therefore, even though she knew her tumor was large, Ms. T still tried to endure it, because she was afraid that the treatment process would undo her child’s education. Not to mention, she still has to take care of her 92-year-old elderly mother.

In the past 6 months, the tumor continued to increase rapidly, her belly was getting bigger and bigger, but Ms. T continued to try to sell lottery tickets. A month following being admitted to the hospital, the woman felt that her abdomen was too tight, so she was forced to go to Tu Du Hospital (HCMC) for examination. Here, doctors discovered that the patient’s ovarian tumor had grown enormously, requiring urgent surgery.

But difficulties came, when the woman had many underlying diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and new cardiovascular disease discovered more than 6 months ago, requiring specialist treatment before surgery. One day at the end of December, when the appointment was not yet scheduled, Ms. T. had severe abdominal pain and had to go to the emergency room with a very large and tight abdomen as if she was regarding to give birth.

Through examination, the doctors determined that the patient’s tumor had spread from the surface of the pubic joint to the tip of the sternum, 40cm long. The ultrasound results showed that there was a giant tumor (393 x 218 x 400mm), inside there were many septums and many solid tissues.

She was quickly consulted by the head doctors and the Board of Directors of Tu Du Hospital, deciding to perform urgent surgery. The surgery crew member recalled, although her stomach was painful and tight, the woman still had a very bright smile, because her son had finished his exam by this time, so she was no longer as worried as before.

The surgery was carried out successfully in nearly 3 hours. The entire tumor along with the uterus and two appendages were removed from the body, including more than 11 liters of dark brown mucus in the tumor. Doctors diagnosed this as a case of ovarian mucinous tumor that is likely to be a malignant borderline tumor, so it needs to be closely monitored following surgery, as well as may have to continue long-term treatment.

24 hours following surgery, the patient was able to walk, eat and drink almost normally. 5 days following surgery, all post-operative problems were fine, the patient was discharged with a flat, very comfortable abdomen. More encouragingly, all treatment costs are almost covered by health insurance, so patients do not have to worry regarding the burden of money.

“Finally, T.’s mother and daughter were able to go home to welcome the new year, with much hope for a bright tomorrow.

The hospital would like to congratulate you and your family on having a lot of health and good luck in life,” – the doctors of Tu Du Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City sent to Ms.
