It’s finished! Disappointing draw between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen
The topspiel of the 5th day was far from having offered the expected spectacle. If the German champion air-conditioned his rival, Bayern knew how to react to come back. Dominant, Vincent Kompany’s players lacked success and ideas, and let their first two points of the season slip away.
Xhaka also on the ground
The Swiss gets up after gaining a few seconds.
Laimer’s strike!
The Austrian international sees his shot go off target!
Bavarian domination in figures
17 shots for Bayern, only three on target. For Leverkusen, two shots on target in three attempts.
Things are going well for Xabi Alonso
Wirtz and Grimaldo are replaced by Palacios and Bolocian.
Grimaldo’s turn to be on the ground
The Leverkusen defender remains on the ground after contact with Laimer.
New vigilante
Second opportunity of the match for Leverkusen, with Tella’s shot stopped by Neuer! The attacker had been perfectly launched in depth by Wirtz.
Müller collapses
Free kick from Kimmich towards Musiala. The leader picked up Müller in the 5.50m but the Munich legend collapsed after a charge from Tapsoba. No penalty.
No risks taken with Kane
The striker is replaced by Thomas Müller. He limps back to the bench.
Concern for Harry Kane
The Three Lions captain writhes in pain and complains about his left ankle after contact with Adli as he moved back to defend. The medical staff intervenes.
Musiala furious
The leader struggles with Xhaka and collapses in the area. But it is well defended by the Swiss, even if the Bavarian demands something.
Bavarian domination
But the German champions seem to be content with this away draw.
Min-Jae too short
Center returning from Coman, who finds a delivery from the head of Upamecano. In the 5.50m, Min-Jae throws himself but it lacks the power to worry Hradecky.
Several changes for Bayern
Sané and Laimer replace Olise and Guerreiro. Kompany changes his entire right side.
Bavarian combination on the free kick
Kimmich plays it smart by shifting Davies to the edge of the area. From the right, the left-hander still doesn’t fit.
Olise gets a good free kick
On his right side, Olise tries to gain speed but is stopped irregularly by Grimaldo, who takes a yellow.
Kimmich also tries
Bayern runs wide. On his left side, Coman serves Kimmich in the axis. The German midfielder rolls up his ball, but (again) misses the target.
Coman makes his entrance
The French international replaces Serge Gnabry for Bayern’s first change.
Min-Jae’s Charge
The South Korean charges from behind Amine Adli and makes the mistake.
Davies, it’s still above!
Success always eludes the people of Munich. This time, it’s a cover by Davies which takes off into the sky of the Allianz Arena.
First change for Xabi Alonso
Martin Terrier is replaced by Amine Adli.
Olise’s opportunity!
Free kick from Kimmich towards Upamecano. The ball is extended by the defense towards Olise, who attempts a recovery, blocked!
Two Munich residents on the ground
Musiala is on the ground after contact with Andrich, as is Min-Jae, who takes a high foot from Wirtz to the face. The Bayer winger is booked.
Bayern cannot find a solution
On the other hand, Leverkusen plays higher in a very tactical encounter.
A rather strange atmosphere at the Allianz Arena
Despite the Oktoberfest, the atmosphere is far from festive in the bays of the Munich venue, quite subdued at the start of the second act.
Tah wards off the danger
Launched deep on the left side, Gnabry crosses with first intention. It’s cleared into touch by Jonathan Tah.
What a miss from Gnabry!
On a perfect cross from Kane, Gnabry sees his shot from the left hit the post. The ball returns to the feet of the winger who triggers again, this time it’s the bar which saves Hradecky!
Davies is countered
The Bayern full-back has been very high since returning from the locker room. Served at 20m, he shifts to his right foot and tries his luck, it is blocked by the defense.
It’s back to Munich!
The debates are relaunched by Bayer Leverkusen. No change for both teams.
It’s the break!
Dominant, Bayern Munich was cooled by the opening score of the German champion on his first opportunity. But Vincent Kompany’s players were able to react to reset the counters.
Bayern regains control of operations
The ball is in the feet of the Munich players, who rotate while waiting for the break or an opening.
The Allianz Arena wakes up
Stunned after Leverkusen’s surprise opening score, Bayern supporters regained their colors.
PAVLOVIC’S BANGER FOR BAYERN’S EQUALIZER!
A cross from Olise is cleared directly onto Pavlovic by Tapsoba. The midfielder carries out a chest check before arming his recovery, which ends in Hradecky’s top corner!
Bayer well grouped
The Leverkusen players are all in their 40m, forcing the Munich players to combine in small spaces. But it’s difficult for Michael Olise and Harry Kane, who were quite discreet this Saturday.
Musiala’s response
Bayern goes on the attack again after Leverkusen’s goal. Musiala tries his luck again near the surface, but it is still not on target. The poor finish on the side of Vincent Kompany’s players.
Andrich takes his yellow
Barely recovered from his goal, the Leverkusen midfielder is warned for a big mistake near the touchline.
LEVERKUSEN OPENS THE SCORE!
Corner hit towards Xhaka at the far post. The Swiss serves Andrich behind on the edge of the area. The latter arms a cross strike at ground level which deceives Neuer! It’s clearly a gamble from the German champions, who were dominated at the start of the match.
Boniface is alone in front
The Leverkusen striker touched very little of the ball this afternoon. He is well muzzled by the Upamecano-Min-Jae hinge.
Musiala sanctioned
Andrich performs a muscular intervention on Musiala and collapses. The referee calls a foul for Leverkusen, enough to provoke whistles from the public at the Allianz Arena.
Olise still looking for Kane
On the right side, Olise gets on his left foot to send a cross towards Harry Kane, but Frimpong comes to play firefighter on duty in the area.
First toast for Upamecano
The Frenchman is warned after a foul on Boniface. But it was his gesture of irritation which was punished, since the former Leipzig player threw the ball in frustration.
On the side of the benches, Xabi Alonso is also warned.
Olise above!
Olise takes charge of taking the free kick. The ball comes down quickly but not enough to end up in the goals. It’s just above for the Frenchman.
That Musiala festival!
The German eliminated four opponents with disconcerting ease before being brought down by Jonathan Tah, who conceded an excellent free kick from 20m.
Hradec vigilante
The Leverkusen goalkeeper easily catches an incoming corner hit by Olise.
Olise hits a wall
The Frenchman tries to find space to serve Kane, but Leverkusen’s grouped defense blocks the passage. The ball is lost.
The game is getting stronger
Pavlovic’s turn to foul Wirtz in the central circle. Xabi Alonso’s players try to chain the passes together, but it is lost too quickly.
Big mistake from Min-Jae
The South Korean comes from behind on Terrier and is logically sanctioned.
Corner wasted by Bayern
Corner played two-handed between Kimmich and Gnabry. Musiala is looked for in the area, but the ball is lost. Hradecky can free himself.
Guerreiro tries his hand
Despite the low block of Leverkusen players, all in their last 40 meters, Guerreiro was found in the axis. The Portuguese strikes from the left, but it escapes Hradecky’s frame.
Upamecano brings danger into the Leverkusen box
Corner hit from left to right by Kimmich. The midfielder finds Upamecano’s head within 5.50m, but the Frenchman misses the target.
She had to!
First attempt of the match launched by the German international, who crosses his shot too much.
Wirtz’s first cross
The German nugget crosses from the left, but it is easily captured by Neuer.
The Guerrero challenge on the right side
The Portuguese left-hander systematically controls with his left foot and makes a few approximations.
Kane searched in the area
Bavarian possession sequence which leans to the right side. Olise serves Guerreiro, who launches Kane with a touch, but his pass is too long, Hradecky catches it.
Musiala hooked
Small foul on the Bayern leader near the halfway line.
Bayern Munich-Bayer Leverkusen, c’est party !
The kick-off is given by the people of Munich!
The players’ entry onto the pitch of the Allianz Arena
The volume of the sound system is at maximum for the first huge shock of the season in the Bundesliga. Note the presence of Julian Nagelsmann, the Mannschaft coach, in the stands.
Kick-off in 10 minutes
The players are finishing their warm-up, the party will soon start in Munich!
Express integration for Michael Olise
A silver medalist with the French Olympic team at the Olympics, the former Crystal Palace player took his first steps with the A and has been riding an incredible wave since his arrival in Germany. Recruited for 60 million euros including bonus, the winger already has 5 goals and 3 assists this season.
Last week against Werder, he produced a real masterclass, with a double-double (two goals, two assists) during the defeat of Bayern (5-0).
Leipzig puts pressure on Leverkusen
RB Leipzig swept Augsburg 4-0 on Saturday, thanks to a double from their Slovenian international Benjamin Sesko, to temporarily take second place in the Bundesliga, before the Bayern-Leverkusen clash at 6:30 p.m.
Bayern, who host the defending champion Leverkusen at the end of the day in the summit match of this month of September, theoretically cannot lose their first place. But a victory would give him a first margin over his pursuers.
Bayern will play with a special tunic
Who says Oktoberfest, says jersey designed for the occasion for the people of Munich.
The eleven players chosen by Xabi Alonso for Leverkusen
On the Bayer side, Xabi Alonso trusts his eleven type. We notably find Martin Terrier aligned in attack with Victor Boniface and Florian Wirtz.
The Leverkusen team
Hradecky – Tapsoba, Tah, Hincapié – Frimpong, Andrich, Xhaka, Grimaldo – Terrier, Wirtz – Boniface
The Bayern Munich lineup, Kane and Olise are obviously the starters
No surprises in the eleven aligned by Vincent Kompany, with the tenure of Frenchmen Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise, while Kingsley Coman starts on the bench. Manuel Neuer is back in goal.
The composition of Bayern Munich
Neuer – Guerrero, Upamecano, Min-Jae, Davies – Pavlovic, Kimmich – Olise, Musiala, Gnabry – Kane
Leverkusen almost perfect
Reigning German champion, Bayer Leverkusen fell on the 2nd day against Leipzig (2-3), but remains on a series of three victories in a row in all competitions: at Hoffenheim (4-1), in Rotterdam against Feyenoord in the Champions League (4-0) and at home last Sunday against Wolfsburg (4-3).
Bayern received 100%
Bayern Munich, now coached by Vincent Kompany, has had a perfect run in the Bundesliga (4 matches, 4 victories). Harry Kane (5 goals) and Michael Olise (3 goals) are the strong men of the Bavarians, who are leaders of the championship.
The Munich residents remain on 20 goals scored in the last three matches: Wolfsburg (3-2), Friborg (2-0), Kiel (6-1), Werder Bremen (5-0) and a resounding victory in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb (9-2).
