Sony recently took the curtain on the long-rumored revamp of Playstation Plus aired. From some point in June will Playstation Plus have three levels from which subscribers can choose which one they will take. The basic PlayStation Plus Essential-tier offers PS Plus services as they exist today while PlayStation Plus Extra basically PS Plus combined with PlayStation Now. The highest level is PlayStation Plus Premium and offers players hundreds of additional games to choose from.
Those who sign up for PS Plus Extra will have access to “up to 400” PS4 and PS5 games, including some heavyweights. Sony has confirmed six games for PS Plus Extra subscribers start will be availablein the form of Death StrandingGod of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles MoralesMortal Kombat 11 and Returnal. Of course, these titles will also be available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.
How much do the PS Plus tiers cost?
PlayStation Plus Essential will cost €8.99 monthly / €24.99 quarterly / €59.99 annually. At €13.99 monthly / €39.99 quarterly / €99.99 yearly, the Plus Extra tier will cost €16.99 monthly / €49.99 quarterly / €119.99 yearly.
Premium includes all the benefits of PS Plus Extra but also gives subscribers access to a sizeable list of retro games from the PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3 eras. Sony has said that PS Plus Premium will add “up to 340 additional games”. That means PlayStation Plus Premium will be available at launch with over 700 games.
at PlayStation Plus Premium however, there are some limitations to be aware of. Sony has said the PS3 games will only be available via cloud streaming, meaning performance can vary wildly depending on internet connection. Download and streaming options will be available for the PS1, PS2 and PSP games, but it’s unclear how comprehensive these will be. Fans will have to wait for Sony to share more information to be sure.
From the looks of it, Sony hasn’t revealed any of the retro games that will come to PS Plus Premium at launch, but you can probably get a good idea by looking at the older titles currently out there PlayStation Now are available. Aside from the six PS4/PS5 games coming to the service at launch, fans really have no idea what other games will bring PS Plus Extra and Premium, but regardless, there’s going to be a ton of games coming at launch in June give choice.
