The French automotive market recorded a tenth consecutive month of decline in March 2022, according to data published Friday April 1 by the Automotive Platform (PFA) and AAA Data. “Over the first three months of 2022, with 365,361 registrations, the French market for new passenger cars is down 17.30% in raw data“, explains the PFA in a press release. The main causes are the supply difficulties (shortages of electronic components) and the economic uncertainties linked to the war in Ukraine.
However, over the January-March period, gasoline-electric and full-electric hybrid cars became the main type of engine with nearly 40% of new car registrations, compared to 38.3% for conventional gasoline engine models. Diesel continues to decline to fall in the first quarter to 16.5%, with a historic low of 14% in March alone.
