Liao Junxiong, who played the role of “Big Grain” in the TVB classic drama “The Throne of the Master”, joined the eighth artist training class in 1979, and has filmed many dramas. He left TVB more than 20 years ago and faded out of entertainment and business. He has operated overnight cold stores, trade businesses, and recently worked as an environmental carpenter. Unfortunately, he was suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in the middle of last year.
Liao Junxiong originally suffered from stomach discomfort the following month following his teammate Liao Qizhi died of cancer in March last year. At that time, he felt that his stomach seemed to be indigestion. He continued to see a doctor. After that, he accepted the doctor’s advice to undergo gastric cutting surgery, took targeted drugs and continued to undergo chemotherapy until the middle of this year. Fortunately, the progress was good, and the cancer index had returned to normal.
Tall and strong, he plummeted from 210 pounds to 160 pounds, and lost nearly 50 pounds following his illness. He bluntly said that it was very hard to undergo chemotherapy, and he described it as thin as if he was imprisoned in a concentration camp. After he got sick, he avoided seeing his friends for a while, but now he has calmly accepted the fact that he is sick and is actively receiving treatment, hoping to overcome the disease as soon as possible. Although Liao Junxiong left the entertainment industry, his son Liao Jiajue inherited his father’s business and joined the TVB artist training class last year to become an actor.
