The Japan Cup Criterium consists of 15 laps around a 2.25km criterium course, totaling 33.37km. It was a high-speed race with the UCI World Teams repeatedly attacking from the beginning, and with no team able to take the lead, the race ended in a chaotic group sprint.

Although the Soudal Quick-Step cars passed the final corner with Julien Alaphilippe (France) in the lead, the group sprint started with a long spurt by Axel Zangles (Cofidis, France), who finished second in last year’s race. Edward Toons (Belgium, Riddle Trek) was the first to cross the finish line, waiting for the right moment and beating out Zangle with outstanding speed.

Detailed information will be reported later.
