“A sign of how seriously we take that threat is that we have decided to show up together to raise awareness and work together with the private sector to better protect innovation especially in a place like Northern California but really in all five countries,” Wray explained. ASIO director Mike Burgess added that China’s activities go “beyond traditional espionage.”
“We have the Chinese government involved in the most sophisticated and sustained intellectual property theft in human history,” he explained. In this sense, Wray stated that China has the largest computer hacking program in the world of such magnitude that it exceeds all the activities carried out by the rest of the countries combined.
