Has Samsung found a solution to place its sound bar? It’s just 3.6cm deep and 3.8cm high, and it’s the first soundbar to offer wireless Dolby Atmos.
Samsung announced a lot of products at CES 2022: a video projector, which we call The Freestyle, a screen to control the connected home, a strange concept giant pc screen, a all-in-one monitor, a ultra-wide screen for gamers, the news The Frame, but also the Neo QLED (Mini LED) and the MicroLED TV. And yet, we haven’t covered everything.
There are also new things on the audio side with soundbars designed with the help of Harman Kardon. The Samsung HW-Q950B, for example, is type 11.1.4. It comes with a subwoofer and two wireless satellite speakers for surround sound. She succeeds the model HW-Q950A and features upward-facing speakers for ceiling effects. This is Samsung’s best audio demo, but it is also the most expensive product.
This model also incorporates Q-Symphony 2.0 support, which uses the soundbar and TV speakers together. With the automatic calibration system, SpaceFit Plus eliminates the need for a Samsung television to take advantage of this functionality. Each speaker has the necessary components. In 2022, the system will be able to use all TV speakers, including upper channel speakers, for a maximum of 22 audio channels with the Neo QLED 8K TV. QN900B from Samsung.
HW-S800B: so slim and wireless
There was also a new model HW-S800B which really wowed us on paper. This bar is also Q-Symphony compatible, but that’s not the most important thing.
It is particularly thin since Samsung announces barely 3.6 cm deep and 3.8 cm high. It will therefore be easy to place it in front of a television without obstructing the infrared receiver for the remote control and without hiding the image.
The other advantage of this sound bar is the arrival of wireless Dolby Atmos. This will require a Samsung 2022 TV, but you read that right… the surround audio data will go through the Wi-Fi to the satellites and the subwoofer. So you don’t need HDMI (eARC) …
As a reminder, Dolby Atmos (not to be confused with DTS: X, its competitor) is a surround sound technology whose objective is to recreate sound spatialization like in the cinema, without the need for expensive and complex home cinema equipment. to install. The audio signal is not transmitted in Dolby TrueHD, i.e. lossless, but in Dolby Digital Plus.
This is usually sufficient because, to our knowledge, no Dolby Atmos streaming service is transmitted through the TrueHD container anyway. If you want, you can still connect the soundbar via HDMI (eARC) with Dolby Atmos directly from the TV. Note in passing that the HW-Q950B sound bar is also Dolby Atmos wireless compatible via Dolby Digital Plus.
This HW-S800B model therefore has several speakers, two of which (in the ends of the bar) which are oriented towards the ceiling. In total there are 6 speakers in this very compact sound bar. It comes with a separate compact subwoofer that uses passive radiator technology.
This sound bar makes a short pass on one of PP Garcia’s videos, this will allow you to realize its dimensions.
