The Thing About Pam is (finally) coming to French television this Saturday, September 9! Broadcast in April 2022 in the United States on NBC, it is on M6 that the fiction will be entitled to a new exhibition through two evenings of three episodes. Recounting a news item dating from 2011, the mini-series is inspired by the podcast of American journalist Keith Morrison. Created by Jessika Borsiczky Goyer, this adaptation is supported by a nice cast including double Oscar winner Renee Zellweger in the role of Pam Hupp, Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas) who plays lawyer Joel Schwartz, but also Judy Greer (30 years old or nothing ) who carries the character of prosecutor Leah Askey.

In December 2011, when Russ Faria (Glenn Fleshler) returned home, he discovered the body of his wife, Betsy (Katy Mixon). Very quickly, suspicions of this assassination are directed towards the husband who is convicted for the first time even though he continues to proclaim his innocence. However, through the determination of a journalist, Russ’s lawyer (Josh Duhamel) and a few missteps by the real assassin, the particularly devious plan of her “best friend”, Pam Hupp (Renee Zellweger) will end up being update. But the culprit hasn’t said her last word…

The Thing About Pam: should you watch the M6 drama with Renee Zellweger?
Fans of Desperate Housewives and Why Women Kill, this series is made for you! Far from the murky and slightly distressing atmosphere of other detective series, this adaptation of a real news story combines suspense, humor and societal satire to result in a successful black comedy. Despite the drama that plays out, we enjoy its burlesque characters and the multiple twists and turns, not to mention the cliffhangers which make this mini-series addictive. Furthermore, fans of news stories will get their money’s worth with this well-documented fiction, which also allows you to understand the complexity of the American judicial system. Archive images are even present at the very end of the series, allowing us to better shed light on this sordid story. As for the actors, we can only salute the performance that is both disturbing and hilarious from an unrecognizable Renee Zellweger in the title role, who had a bad experience of the filming, or even from Josh Duhamel and Judy Greer. With these six episodes of around forty minutes and its surprising conclusion, The Thing About Pam is a series that you are likely to enjoy with undisguised pleasure. We want more!
