Uncertainty hovered following the discovery of the lifeless body of Jessica, aged 37, in Spa on Monday. The body of the mother of five children had been found at her home and showed signs of a stab wound. But investigators might not say whether it was murder or suicide. Hence the importance of the autopsy to be carried out by the medical examiner and intended to clarify the circumstances of the death as much as possible.
First results
First conclusions fell on Tuesday, we learned at the prosecution.
“According to the first results of the autopsy, there is no intervention by a third party. The thesis of suicide is therefore accepted at this stage of the investigation, ”said Françoise Zegels, division prosecutor acting for Verviers.
“The investigation continues. No one is being held in detention for the moment,” added the magistrate from Verviers.
The body of the Spadoise, born in 1985, had been discovered by her husband around 4 a.m., on the night of Sunday to Monday. The husband had then quickly dialed the number of the police, who had quickly intervened on the scene of the tragedy, in the district of avenue Reine Astrid, which leads from Spa to Theux, at the exit of the City of waters.
When they arrived, the police unfortunately might only confirm the death of this mother.
The question then arose: was it a murder or had there been intervention by a third party?
From the start of the ensuing investigation, the death had been “simply” considered suspicious. A thesis that was accredited by the first results of the autopsy carried out by the medical examiner, this Tuesday followingnoon.
Nevertheless, the investigation is not closed, we added to the prosecution.
