The International Monetary Fund denied today that there have been contacts between President Alberto Fernández and the head of the Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, on the appointment of Sergio Massa in charge of the Economy.
After the information was confirmed by official sources from the Casa Rosada and was even mentioned by the outgoing Minister of Production, Daniel Scioli, who recounted it on a television mobile, from the Fund they let it be known that that conversation never existed. “President Alberto Fernández has not recently communicated with the Managing Director”was the message they circulated.
A few days ago, Silvina Batakis, in her role as Economy Minister, had visited the IMF and had a one-on-one with Director Georgieva. After that trip, even before she landed in Argentina, she was thrown out of office in the middle of Sergio Massa’s landing. More information here.
