The tense crossover between Mario Desbordes and Paulina Vodanovic that the PS asks to “transversely condemn” | National

The Socialist Party asked to “transversally condemn” the friction that arose during a radio program between the president of the PS, Paulina Vodanovic, and the former RN deputy, Mario Desbordes. In the instance, both accused each other of disseminating false information regarding what the proposed new Constitution enshrines in relation to home ownership.

A lot of tension was generated this Friday in the El Primer Café program of Radio Cooperativa, where different political figures referred to the constitutional process.

Among the guests were the former ministers Andrés Velasco, Nicolás Eyzaguirre (PPD), Mario Desbordes (RN), and the president of the PS, Paulina Vodanovic, where the latter two would have held a discussion in the space led by Cecilia Rovaretti.

It was in the last block of this program when the leader of the Socialist Party made a statement to Sebastián Piñera’s former Minister of Defense that the courts are the ones who qualify “whether a crime is terrorist or not.”

Meanwhile, there was also friction with Andrés Velasco, whom Vodanovic accused of “ignoring the role, which he says is a piece of paper. I think that Andrés, your way of dismissing everyone, is not the way I like to do politics.”

Right to housing

After this, Desbordes took the floor and said that “what Paulina has just done is a fake. I regret that it comes from a lawyer, because she is relating article 78 of the Constitution, which I have read backwards and forwards, where private property is enshrined in general and I have always been careful not to fall into the fakes of the hard right”.

Within the framework of the issue of private property, both Desbordes and Vodanovic accused each other of giving false information.

“If you have a house today, unless it is expropriated, you are not going to lose it. But what Paulina is not telling you, when she links to this article, is that in the other, where the right to housing is, own housing is not guaranteed. (…)”, explained Desbordes.

To this he added that “if they give you a rental home, even if (article) 78 says what it says, that home that they give you from here to the future is not your own.”

It was there when Vodanovic indicated that of course the “lease does not give you the right to be an owner.”

Later, the RN militant said that “Paulina Vodanovic is missing the truth. The right to own a home, which is guaranteed in the Constitution (…)”, said the former deputy RN, only to be interrupted by the president of the PS, who told him “you cannot say that, Mario, take back your sayings”.

“You are saying with name and surname that I am a liarI cannot allow that”, the president of the PS told her, where Desbordes then told her “rewind everything you have said this time Paulina”.

“I want you to apologize to me, because you are insolent. I withdraw from the program. I can’t stand this man calling me a liar,” Vodanovic said.

Desbordes meanwhile asked the driver to listen to what Paulina “said before, what I’m saying is that the truth is missing if it is said that this Constitution guarantees homeownership, because it is not like that.”

“Of course it guarantees it, read article 78,” Paulina Vodanovic specified.

To clarify Article 78 1. establishes that “every person, natural or legal, has the right to property in all its species and over all kinds of goods, except those that nature has made common to all people and those that the Constitution or the law declare inappropriate”.

Let us remember that a few weeks ago Minister Carlos Montes described as “an invention” that the proposed new Constitution eliminates home ownership.

PS condemns the fact: “The democratic debate cannot accept this type of insults and insults”

Faced with this situation, the Socialist Party issued a public statement to condemn this fact.

“The national table of the Socialist Party of Chile condemns the verbal aggression of Mario Desbordes once morest our president Paulina Vodanovic, in conversation with Radio Cooperativa”, they pointed out in the document.

To this they added that “the democratic debate cannot accept that type of insults and insults. The Chilean right today unfolds with a violence that must be condemned across the board.

“As a Socialist Party we will always be for the exchange of ideas and not for personal offenses. For the Chile we want, we will continue forward with more force”, they sentenced from the PS national table.

Meanwhile, the senator for the Antofagasta region, Paulina Núñez (RN), said on her Twitter account that the “president of the Socialist Party lacked the truth. He gets upset and offended because they say it on the air and describes the fact as a verbal aggression and a personal offense. Be careful with trivializing verbal aggression and with it people who have suffered it”.
