The Taliban are taking away the right given by Allah; Afghan girls protest once morest the denial of education

Kabul: Protests in Afghanistan once morest the Taliban for denying girls admission to universities. Women’s rights activists and organizations came with the protest.

The protests were held in small groups in different parts of Kabul. “We are here to raise our voice once morest the banning of girls from universities,” the protesters said.

The protest was organized by the Afghanistan Women’s Unity and Solidarity Group. However, within a short time following they started the demonstration, the Taliban soldiers came and suppressed the protest.

Female students have also come forward, sharing their disappointment and concern over the Taliban’s actions. In response to the BBC, a female student at Kabul University said that they have destroyed the only bridge to the future.

‘I don’t know how to react to this. I believed that I might learn and bring regarding changes in my future. But they destroyed everything,’ said the student.

Another student studying Sharia said that the Taliban were not working according to Islamic laws. They added that they have lost everything.

This action of the Taliban is once morest the rights given by Islam and Allah. These Taliban should go to other Islamic countries. Then they will realize that what they are doing is wrong,’ said the student.

Earlier, girls were denied admission from secondary schools.
According to the new procedure, girls currently studying in universities will also be excluded.

Afghanistan’s Minister of Higher Education issued an order banning girls from universities. The Taliban has announced that the ban will take effect immediately and will continue until further notice.

‘Women’s education is being stopped. This should be implemented immediately. This will continue until a new order is issued,’ said the order issued by Education Minister Neda Muhammad Nadeem. This order has reached all government/private universities in Afghanistan.

The entrance exam for universities in Afghanistan was held regarding three months ago. Although girls were allowed to appear in the entrance examination, various subjects were barred.

Various subjects like veterinary science, engineering, economics and agriculture were banned. Girls might only write exams in subjects sanctioned by the Taliban.

After the capture of Afghanistan in August 2021, the Taliban implemented extreme anti-women measures. Schools and colleges had separate classrooms for boys and girls.

Earlier, women were denied entry to parks, entertainment festivals, gyms and public baths.

The Taliban had also taken measures to cut salaries to drive women out of government jobs. In recent months, the Taliban has also issued orders to wear a burqa when leaving home and to travel only with a male relative.

Afghanistan’s economy is currently supported by financial aid from foreign countries. Many countries have stopped this aid following measures such as denying education to women. There are reports that the international world will tighten its stance once morest the Taliban with the ban on universities.
